Get Ready To Run

The snow has melted and the spring flowers are starting to peak up through the soil.  I can finally trade the treadmill in for the trails and get out side to run.  Running outside in the winter is fun for some but I can’t seem to figure out a way to keep my feet warm and hands from going numb!  During the long Michigan winters I maintain my mileage on the treadmill while watching HGTV.  Maybe you run for pure enjoyment and as a way to relieve stress or to maintain your weight.  Whatever your reason for running is it is always good to shake things up and train for a race.  Signing up for a race can help you stay motivated and prevent your body from becoming adapted to your training regime.  Following a specific training program will also help you stay on track and reduce the risk of over training or not being prepared for your race.  Hal Higdon is an accomplished runner and author of over 36 running related books and has spent years developing running programs.  Check out his website for more great information on training! http://www.halhigdon.com/
