Dear Family and Friends,
I am raising money for Make A Wish Foundation by biking 300 miles over 3 days. Many of you probably think this will be easy for me but I beg to differ. The studio is only 5 miles one way so biking 100 miles a day is going to be a big challenge, but there are children suffering every day with diseases and it is for these children that I choose to ride. And after the three days are over I will be able to go home and let my body rest and recover. The children that we are raising money for don’t have that option.
Regardless, this is not about me! It is about Sophie, Alex and other Wish Kids waiting for their wishes to come true. I am part of a team called Team Alex (Not my Alex). Alex Graham passed away over 18 years ago at the young age of 16 after a brave battle with osteogenic sarcoma. She would be the same age as I am. Alex was a remarkable young woman with a very simple non-selfish wish: to make a public service announcement so people would treat kids with cancer with smiles and kindness, not stares. Her legacy lives on and inspires me. In less than two months I will be going to Traverse City with my husband Alex and my Teammates from Team Alex to start the journey. This journey is nothing compared to what these children and family members endure each day. With your financial support and best wishes we can bring hope, joy and strength to courageous wish children in our community.
